People are so desperate to rank quickly they’ll believe any promise from sleazy SEO operators online ready to pounce on unsuspecting business owners.
It baffles me. But it’s understandable.
Matt Cutts answers a question in this video (above) about the biggest surprise in 2012 when it comes to SEO.
Bottom line is if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. No one can guarantee you rankings.
SEO is like sport and your site is the athlete. Fuel it with good stuff, follow healthy recommendations, track and monitor progress and see what works and what doesn’t. Long term, you should see improvements. And hey – you might even win the race. A holistic approach is best – both online strategies and offline branded strategies.
And even if it bruises your ego a little when comparing yourself to higher ranking competitors, you really need to ask yourself the question…
“Do I truly, truly deserve to be #1″?
